Scott Bourn, Ph.D., Vice President of Clinical Affairs

Scott Bourn, Ph.D., is the Vice President of Clinical Affairs at American Medical Response. Dr. Bourn leads a clinical leadership team of more than 120 educators, quality assurance coordinators and research specialists. He works with AMR’s physician medical directors to develop and update the medical protocols that guide the care AMR’s caregivers provide to more than four million patients each year. The office of Clinical Programs also coordinates the highly acclaimed and proprietary Patient Focused Care & Advocacy programs that are used by more than 15,000 clinical affairs caregivers at AMR.

Dr. Bourn has 30 years of experience as a paramedic, emergency department and critical care nurse, EMS system coordinator and director of a university EMS degree program. He has written more than 200 articles and video scripts and has served as a contributing editor to the Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS) for more than 15 years. Dr. Bourn has lectured and consulted in England, Canada, the Caribbean and throughout the United States. He was appointed to the State of Colorado’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Council in 2002 and has served as the chairman of the Council since 2005.

Dr. Bourn holds a Ph.D. in Health and Behavioral Sciences and a Master of Science in Critical Care Nursing from the University of Colorado Denver.
