AMR San Diego provides emergency and non-emergency medical transport service for the San Diego County, California, area, including Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, the Bonita-Sunnyside Fire Protection District, La Mesa, the San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District, Lemon Grove, the Alpine Fire Protection District, the San Diego Rural Fire Protection District and the Pine Valley Fire Protection District area. AMR San Diego employs approximately 300 paramedics and EMTs and responds to approximately 60,000 calls annually.
AMR San Diego was the first medical transportation provider in San Diego County to be recognized with the Gold Standard from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS). It has been CAAS accredited since 1994. In 2005, AMR San Diego became the first ambulance provider in California to be awarded the CAPE Prospector Award from the California Council of Excellence.
As a founding member of the Regional Cooperative Care Program, AMR San Diego partners with five San Diego fire agencies to provide unified medical direction and integrated training programs and ensure that continually upgraded and updated standards are attained and maintained by all member organizations. The operation also offers ACLS provider/renewal, BLS provider/renewal, PALS/PEPP, first aid, safety lessons and ambulance orientations for pre-school and elementary school students in the local community.
