IHM Academy of EMS was created in 1979 and serves the St. Louis and Kansas City metropolitan areas and southwestern Illinois.

IHM offers a nationally accredited paramedic training program along with a critical care program, a registered nurse to paramedic bridge program and an associate degree in Occupational Science. It is also a satellite training center through Barnes-Jewish Hospital & Children's Hospital for American Heart Association courses. It is the only nationally accredited paramedic training program in Missouri and trains about 600 students per term.
