AMR employees have big hearts. That’s
why they chose a career in which they can help people. And that’s
why, from coast to coast, AMR employees give back to their communities
in so many ways.
Although we treat and transport those who are injured,
we love to see our neighbors healthy and safe. That’s why
our medics on the road in the Vancouver, WA, area hand out bicycle
helmets to kids – right from the back of the ambulance!
More than 58,000 students in Southern California have graduated
from our award-winning Jr. Paramedic program, which teaches them
9-1-1 awareness and basic first aid. Our Hot-Shot van presents
seatbelt, booster seat, bicycle and gun safety to elementary age
students, and provides our elderly neighbors with flu shots in
Seattle. And nearly everywhere, our communities look to us for
CPR training.
In times of need, AMR stands ready to serve. One
of our Colorado paramedics inspired us to provide “Sentimental
Journeys”– free medical transportation to any local
destination a hospice patient desires as her last request. And
many AMR operations share the joy of being “Home for the
Holidays,” as our caregivers take nursing home patients
home to their loved ones on Thanksgiving and Christmas, free of
charge.
Often, our neighbors don’t need our medical
care or transportation, but they need our care just the same.
For example, our Mississippi employees have ensured Santa visits
the children at the Jackson-area’s largest orphanage. And
in Connecticut, for over ten years, employees have collected and distributed more than 10,000
toys each year for underserved children over the holidays.
“Project Lucy” in Alameda County, California,
brings compassion, respect and love to nursing home residents
in the form of a little Yorkshire terrier. Our customer service
representatives make sure Lucy greets as many residents eager
for pet friendship as possible. In Michigan, it’s Aiko,
AMR’s German Shepard, that brightens the day of so many
dog lovers.
And AMR partners with great community-minded organizations.
We support Mothers Against Drunk Driving from New England to the
New South, first responders with our wide-spread “For Sirens
and Lights, Pull to the Right” campaigns, and even developing
nations, like Panama and the Children of Chernobyl in the Ukraine with donations of used ambulances.
When our neighbors are in need, we’re there
for them. AMR: from coast to coast, with a community spirit.
