Ft. Wayne PUM Awards Five-Year Ambulance
Contract to AMR
GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO,
February 14, 2003 – The Three Rivers Ambulance
Authority (TRAA) in Ft. Wayne, IN, has awarded a new five-year
contract to American Medical Response (AMR).
AMR won the bid process after the TRAA's selection
committee made a unanimous recommendation that the company
once again be contracted with to provide 911 and non-emergency
ambulance service to the community. AMR has been the ambulance
service provider in Ft. Wayne for more than 18 years, but
was challenged for the new contract by a joint bid by the
local fire department and another private company.
Ft. Wayne operates its ambulance service under
the public utility model (PUM).
In the bid recommendation, AMR was noted for
its clinical excellence, superior ambulance fleet and maintenance
program, state-of-the-art equipment, and for its unsurpassed
response time record. AMR has met or exceeded monthly response
time standards in Ft. Wayne for 222 months in a row, or 18.5
years.
The new contract will take effect in June 2003.
