AMR Awards Contract for Largest Ambulance
Fleet Purchase
GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO,
April 30, 2003 – American Medical Response (AMR)
announced today that it has awarded a new three-year contract
to supply emergency vehicles for their national fleet requirements.
Although the contract does not call for a specific number
of vehicles to be purchased, AMR typically buys about 450
vehicles per year. The new contract, which will run through
AMR fiscal years 2004-2006, was awarded to the Interfleet
division of Halcore Group, which is comprised of the Leader
Industries and American Emergency Vehicles (AEV) businesses.
“As the largest ambulance service provider
in North America, AMR’s fleet needs are critical to
our ongoing operations,” said Ron Thackery, Vice President
of Safety & Risk Management and Fleet Administration.
“AEV and Leader Industries have proven themselves in
prior contracts by providing us with superior emergency vehicles
and support services that have consistently met our demanding
requirements. The new multi-year contract further upgrades
the standards of performance to allow us to continuously improve
in our mission of providing effective and safe patient care.”
“AMR is the largest purchaser of ambulances
in the industry,” said Mark Van Arnam, President of
Interfleet. “This multi year contract is believed to
be the largest single fleet purchase in the industry. We are
proud of our record of service with AMR, and the future confidence
they have shown in us by renewing our partnership.”
AEV and Leader Industries operate as the Interfleet
divisions of the Halcore Group, the largest ambulance manufacturing
corporation in the industry.
