AMR AND ATU AGREE ON CONTRACT FOR EMPLOYEES
PORTLAND, OR, May 14,
2003 – Today, American Medical Response (AMR)
was notified by the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local
757 that the majority of AMR employees voted in favor of the
last contract offer. This favorable vote effectively eliminates
any threat of a possible work stoppage.
AMR believes the contract with our employees
to be a strong and fair offer. This offer was unanimously
supported and recommended by the negotiating team and the
ATU. AMR is pleased that employees have chosen to ratify the
offer. Over the term of this three-year contract, AMR employees
will receive a significant increase in wages, as well as maintaining
their benefits at the current level.
The most important issue to AMR is that the
citizens in the communities we serve continue to receive timely,
quality patient care.
AMR values our employees and we are committed
to continue open lines of communication with them throughout
this process.
The new contract between AMR and the ATU will
take effect on Friday, May 16, 2003.
