AMR Paramedics to Ring NYSE Opening Bell as Stock Debuts
What: American
Medical Response (AMR) paramedics will help ring the opening
bell on the New York Stock Exchange on the morning of February
10, 2004. Denver-based AMR, the nation’s largest private-sector
provider of ambulance services and a major ambulance service
provider along the Front Range, also will have a state-of-the-art
ambulance posted outside the Exchange in celebration of the
debut of its parent company’s stock on the NYSE.
Laidlaw International, Inc., parent company
of AMR, will trade common stock under the symbol “LI.”
The common stock also will continue to trade on the Toronto
Stock Exchange (TSX) under the symbol “BUS.”
Kevin Benson, Chief Executive Officer of Laidlaw,
will ring the opening bell accompanied by paramedics from
AMR and employees from Laidlaw’s other subsidiaries.
In addition to AMR, Laidlaw is the parent company for Greyhound
Bus and North America’s largest providers of school
bus services and hospital emergency room management services.
Laidlaw has annual revenues of $4.5 billion, more than 90,000
employees in the U.S. and Canada, and is headquartered in
suburban Chicago. The company emerged from bankruptcy protection
in June 2003 with a new management team and a new Board of
Directors.
