San Mateo County EMS Agency

This prestigious award recognizes EMS organizations for achievements in care for serious cardiac arrest patients, known in the industry as STEMI care.

The Mission: Lifeline EMS award, which launched in 2014, was founded to honor the achievements of EMS personnel, as they are essential to patient outcomes as the first to provide care to cardiac arrest patients. The award recognizes not only the care given to patients, but also the ability of first responders to alert hospitals of the severity of a patient’s condition and make sure that everyone involved is prepared to act quickly and skillfully to save a life. The award also highlights operations that have succeeded in following the most up-to-date standards of care.

The American Heart Association has always been a partner to EMS agencies and is known to assist them by giving them feedback that is necessary to identify any problems in the current recognized system of care, and to provide them with evidence-based measurements of their performance.
