Franklin County, Ill. (April 17, 2012)-- Abbott EMS of Illinois, a subsidiary of American Medical Response, began providing 9-1-1 emergency ambulance services to Franklin County, Illinois, on April 16 at 12:01 a.m.
Abbott EMS recently was awarded a five-year contract as the provider of emergency and non-emergency ground ambulance services to the County. The contract, signed on March 21, 2012 had called for a 90-day transition period for the new service to begin. However, the transition was accelerated following notification by the former provider that they would cease operation in 30 days. The transition occurred smoothly and was seamless to the community.
Scott Tiepelman, Abbott EMS Illinois operations manager, said, “Thanks to the support of our parent company, American Medical Response, we launched services nine weeks ahead of schedule. We have hired a great staff of healthcare professionals from the Franklin County area and the people of the community can be confident that we will provide high quality medical care and customer service.”
Mark Bruning, AMR President, said, “We are extremely pleased that Franklin County has chosen Abbott EMS to provide vital 9-1-1 and non-emergency ambulance services to their community and citizens. Through its more than 40-year history of providing quality ambulance operations in Missouri and Illinois, Abbott has gained a reputation for clinically sophisticated emergency and non-emergency ambulance services and patient care.”
Bruning added, “This latest contract is the fourth such new 9-1-1 contract win for AMR in 2012, joining earlier contract starts in the City and County of Boulder, Colo., and Napa County, Calif. We’re confident that our recent successes demonstrate that our focus on patient care using data, research, education and operational excellence is producing quantifiable improved patient outcomes. We’re proud of our accomplishments and we’re honored to be selected to serve the citizens of Franklin County.”
