Scholarship Named for San Diego Native and EMS Leader Kurt Williams

(Greenwood Village, Colo.) - San Diego native Kurt Williams helped redefine the role of emergency medical services in California and throughout the United

To honor the dedication and memory of Kurt, who passed away unexpectedly in April, the American Ambulance Association has established a scholarship fund in his name. The Kurt William’s Stars of Life Scholarship and Memorial Fund will award scholarships for leadership training and other educational opportunities to EMS professionals who exemplify Kurt’s spirit and dedication.
“Kurt was an inspiration to the next generation as well as his peers and we could not think of a more fitting tribute to Kurt’s legacy than a named scholarship fund in his memory,” said Jimmy Johnson, President of the American Ambulance Association.
The American Ambulance Association also honored Kurt posthumously in November with its President’s Award.
Kurt was a key leader and innovator in the medical transportation industry, directing strategic focus and development efforts for American Medical Response, the nation’s largest ambulance company.
As an active community leader, Kurt served on numerous boards and committees throughout his career, and was appointed to the State of California Emergency Medical Services Authority Directors Advisory Group. He was also a member of the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce CEO Roundtable.
