American Medical Response to Begin Providing Emergency Medical Services to Hutchinson County Texas

(Borger, Texas) — On May 19, 2018, American Medical Response (AMR) will begin providing emergency medical services in Hutchinson County Texas, taking over from Hutchinson County EMS which has been serving the community since 2003 as a division of Golden Plains Community Hospital.

Ambulance service in the county has changed significantly over the past 25 years with different companies running the ambulance. In 2003 Golden Plains Community Hospital took over the service and has done an amazing job taking care of the emergency needs of this community.

“With the numerous changes in EMS reimbursement at the local and national level, as well as the unique education and technology needs for EMS providers, we have decided it is time to take the next step to continue excellent service to our community.” Don Bates, CEO Golden Plains Community Hospital.

“The Hospital has already had an excellent partnership with AMR in this community,” said Bates.

“We started working with them about 18 months ago, and they have provided prompt and capable services when we have called them for assistance.”  AMR is well positioned to provide EMS to this community. In Texas, AMR provides service in Abilene, Amarillo, Arlington, Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Temple, Waco, Wichita Falls, Ellis County, Johnson County, Collin County, Hunt County and Milam County.  If the crews in Hutchinson County need additional resources they can be quickly and easily dispatched through the Amarillo operation.

The transition will be seamless, the EMTs and Paramedics that have been serving this community will continue to serve this community. AMR will hire all current Hutchinson County EMS employees and ambulances will continue to be stationed in the cities of Borger and Fritch.

AMR is the largest provider of ambulance transportation in the United States and has an excellent record of bringing economies of scale to rural communities, providing local jobs, large scale employee support as well as cutting edge technology.

“American Medical Response is thrilled to become part of this county and working with the Hutchinson County Hospital to make a difference in the community,” Robert Saunders, Regional Director said. “It is our honor and privilege to serve the citizens.”
