AMR Responds to Shooting in Thousand Oaks

(Thousand Oaks, CA) — American Medical Response (AMR) crews from Ventura and Los Angeles County responded to the shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California overnight. AMR sent 12 ambulances and four EMS supervisors to the scene to help the shooting victims. AMR also deployed the DMSU144, a disaster response trailer, to the scene. Crews transported three victims to local hospitals, including a Ventura County Sergeant who later tragically died at the hospital. 

“We are heartbroken for the families who have lost loved ones this morning. We are grieving with them and with the Ventura County Sheriff’s department who lost one of their own,” said AMR West Region CEO Tom Wagner. “This is a terrible scene. I’ve checked in with our crews and they are exhausted but safe.” He said AMR sent Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) teams to the operation and are conducting debriefings. “We know from our response to prior mass shootings, that seeing this level of violence can take its toll on our employees, and we want to do everything we can to help them.”
