AMR Deploys Resources in Response to Hurricane Barry Emergency Efforts

AMR will be sending resources to assist under company’s FEMA contract.

(Dallas, TX) – Under American Medical Response’s contract with FEMA, AMR is responding to the agency’s request to provide assistance for response and recovery for Hurricane Barry. AMR’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has been monitoring the storm for days in preparation to send resources to help in the affected areas.

AMR is deploying to the affected areas and anticipates they will be on a 5-day activation, but that can change as the situation changes. The personnel will stay in the area as long as they are needed. When the teams arrive at their assigned area, they will be working under the guidance of FEMA, state and local agencies.

“Hurricane Barry has already started causing a lot of damage to the Gulf Coast region, particularly in Louisiana,” said Ted Van Horne, Chief Operating Officer of Global Medical Response. “We know how devastating these storms can be for the local communities, so we are prepared and ready to respond at a moment’s notice.” He added that the company’s National Command Center in Dallas is organizing and deploying resources as requested and continues to monitor weather and emergency conditions 24/7.

FEMA’s prime emergency medical service response provider, AMR has a national agreement with FEMA to provide ground ambulance, air ambulance, paratransit services and non-ambulance EMS personnel to supplement the federal and military response to a disaster, an act of terrorism or any other public health emergency.
