AMR Executes Flawless Move for California Pacific Medical Center

03.06.2019

AMR San Francisco moved California Pacific Medical Center out of its campuses at Pacific and California into its new hospital at Van Ness and Geary in San Francisco on March 2-3, 2019.

Over the course of two days, AMR provided 45 ambulances (14 CCT, 4 ALS, 7 NICU, and 20 BLS), including eight ambulances from our operations outside of San Francisco. We had 39 command and support positions filled over the two operational periods. Our total staff included 68 EMTs, 11 RNs, 10 FTOs, three medics, two managers, six supervisors, six VSTs, a car seat tech, a medical director and two mechanics. This is by far the most complicated preplanned event in AMR San Francisco history.

All in all, the EMS portion of this move was completed entirely with AMR resources. Our sister company REACH Air Medical Services provided two full-service NICU teams to help with the clinical portion of the NICU move.

We transported 172 patients over the two days, including 30 NICU, 14 infants in car seats, 20 intubated patients, six Pediatric ICU, four patients on VADs and two on ECMO. Everyone was transported safely. We helped patients, family, and staff feel comfortable and there were plenty of smiles as folks made their way into the new hospital.
