As water levels continue to rise from the Chehalis, Skookumchuck and Newaukum rivers, American Medical Response (AMR) is responding to communities across Lewis County impacted by flooding.
Record amounts of rain and snow have fallen across Lewis County for the past week. With floodwaters not predicted to recede until Sunday, area businesses and homes face a continued threat.
As of last night, AMR Lewis County began responding to flooding and water rescue requests. Additionally, AMR has requested backup units from out of state to help provide aid to the region. Those ambulance units are expected to arrive from Oregon later today.
“The flooding that we are seeing across Centralia-Chehalis and the surrounding areas is significant,” said Tony Kuzma, Operations Manager for AMR Lewis County. “We have deployed all of our resources to different operations throughout Lewis County to help provide a coordinated response to this emergency and are anticipating backup resources to become available this afternoon."
AMR Lewis County is closely monitoring water levels in area rivers and creeks. We urge all area residents to be prepared to evacuate quickly and safely. For updates on flooding, evacuation shelters, sandbag locations, and more, please follow the
