AMR Recruiter

Joey Figueroa loves to cook. As a student studying culinary arts, his career path took an unexpected turn when the Navy came calling. The Navy recruited Joey and offered him a position at the Pentagon, the offer was too good to turn down.

For three years, Joey served the Navy as a cook at the Pentagon for the Secretary of the Navy, Chief of Naval Operations and Commandant of the Marine Corps. Two days after the 9/11 attacks, Joey volunteered to go on the USNS Comfort and provide aide to the rescue workers.

In 2003, he decided to try something new and became a Master at Arms and was sent to Bahrain where he spent three years working as a security force member. Joey helped with the development of Embarked Security Teams (EST). In 2006 Joey left the Navy after his contract expired.

Joey used the skills he learned while in the military to land his job at AMR in 2015. He started as an EMT, then was promoted to scheduler and is now a recruiter for AMR.

“My time in the military taught me how to meet deadlines, stay organized and coordinate personnel,” Joey explained, “all skills that translated well into my current role. AMR provided me with the stability of working for a national organization, great benefits and unlimited growth potential,” Joey added.
